About Me
I am an educator, an actor, a singer, a dancer and an alumnus of Kennesaw State University. I majored in English and Theatre & Performance Studies with a concentration in Musical Theatre, and a minor in Dance to boot! I’ve been teaching professionally for seven years.
I’ve performed at KSU before in various productions such as Jacques-Brel is Alive and Well and Living in Paris (Ensemble), Parade (Newt Lee), Branches Etched Across the Sky (Brian), A Man Of No Importance (Ensemble, Alfie U/S), Peter and the Starcatcher (Lord Aster), As You Like It (First Lord, Band, Choreographer), and Ragtime (Black Lawyer/Ensemble). Professionally they’ve done shows in the Atlanta area such as Spring Awakening with RISK Theatre (Fr. Kaulbach, Doctor von Brausepulver), Big River at Marietta’s New Theatre in the Square (Ensemble, Co-Choreographer), Legally Blonde with IMPACT Dance of Atlanta (Warner Huntington III), and Wicket at Dad’s Garage (Chirpa, Storm Trooper, Dance Captain). I have also provided dramaturgical work for KSU’s production of Spring Awakening, and assisted with costumes for KSU’s production of Heathers.
I’m passionate about teaching, acting, singing, dancing, and writing, and I’ve always wanted to make space for all of these passions throughout my life! It is my personal mission to use all of these to empower people to change their minds and lives for the better, and I hope that my work as an actor, a writer, and a teacher help connect me to people I can not only teach, learn and grow from!
I am non-binary, I am queer, I am black, I am a first-generation American, I am a thinker, an actor, a singer, a dancer, a believer and optimist, a lover, and above all a human being. I want to bring all of my unique qualities and my matrices of difference into the art and scholarship I create; I want my identity to speak to my message, and also my content. I want that identity to be at the forefront of what I make, and I want other people to feel free to put their identities into their work as well. I believe that with loving and knowing oneself comes the ability to realize one’s full potential, and I want to help others reach that both through my art and my teaching. I want a world that is more understanding, more kind, and more accepting (not only more tolerant, but really and truly accepting) of others and their difference. I believe optimism is work, and I’m willing to at least try to do that work, and I want to encourage others to do the same. I want art that at least has the potential to cause change, and I believe that only occurs when I put my most authentic self into what I make, so I intend to do that with my work. I hope I get the chance to work with and share my work with you in the future!
